Arques is a French commune in the Aude department in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Surrounded by hills, Arques is situated in the valley of the river Rialsesse. The area features an artificial lake ‘Lac d’Arques’ that was created between 1967 and 1976 and a 14th century Cathar castle ‘Chateau d’Arques’.
