Broad design experience

The range of products I've worked on is unusually broad—from complex, logic-heavy tools for business workers to consumer experiences that must be visually compelling. I've designed websites, AI products, low-code platforms, and even a house from scratch.

My superpower is inventing. I love figuring out what should exist; the form factor—app, website, platform, or physical space—is secondary.

Working with complexity — low-code dev tool

At UiPath, I owned the design for our low-code development platform, first as a hands-on designer and later as a manager.

This included query builders, data binding, expression editors, workflow logic, theme management, component configuration, app navigation, permissions, integrations, testing flows, and other complex builder experiences. The video shows some of these interfaces before we introduced natural language generation. I include it to illustrate a deep understanding of the challenges involved in designing complex developer tools.

Later, but still early for the industry: in December 2020 I started the initiative on letting users design using natural language. I describe that work here: Conversational app creation.

Business Impact

  • Added a new revenue stream by expanding UiPath into low-code application development.
  • Enabled customers to combine process automation with user-facing apps, expanding the range of solutions they could build within the UiPath platform.
  • Increased the strategic value of the platform by allowing customers to replace parts of legacy systems without leaving the UiPath ecosystem.

Founder / entrepreneur

As a founder, I've taken products from early concept through branding, interface design, and hands-on execution—working end to end without a large team behind every step.

  • Knitting Phone App

  • Moms Nearby

  • Coaching App

Results & Business Impact

  • Launched multiple products end to end, reaching users worldwide and supporting their everyday needs.
  • Won first prize in an Amazon/Microsoft design competition.
  • Built a low-cost digital business that generates recurring revenue while serving as a rapid experimentation platform for prompt engineering, content marketing, and AI-assisted development.

Redesigned my house from scratch

Starting with site constraints, land use, cost assessment, floor plans, interior layout, and regulatory requirements.

I created scaled drawings in Figma with accurate measurements, then worked with an architectural drafter and civil engineer to convert the concept into official construction documents.

Results & Financial Impact

  • Designed and delivered a custom home tailored to our family’s needs.
  • Saved an estimated $600K compared with purchasing a comparable newly built home at the time.

Microsoft Bing home page redesign

A consumer-facing homepage at Microsoft — built around large imagery and a more human, visually generous experience instead of another product promotion slot.

A few variations I explored for the page — they were all fun to try.

Results

  • Received hundreds of positive user comments, with many saying the new homepage changed how they perceived Bing and Microsoft.
  • One teacher wrote, “My students and I start every day with the new Bing homepage,” describing how the class explored its interactive content.
  • The redesign became one of Bing's most recognizable experiences and remained largely intact for years.
  • The team received a rare Microsoft Gold Star Award.

Business Impact

  • Differentiated Bing from competitors through a distinctive, emotionally engaging homepage experience.
  • Following Bing’s launch, Microsoft gained 2.7 percentage points of U.S. search market share within seven months and 4.7 points within the first year.
